A recent survey of professionals who completed MIT xPRO’s System Thinking course shows just how much the course has influenced their careers by giving them a fresh perspective on problem-solving and practical skills they can apply to their work.

Career growth 

Nearly one-third (29%) of those surveyed reported a positive impact on their career, and almost half (48%) noted that the effect was immediate.

“I just approached things in a solid manner and was able to illustrate how I can impact the bottom line as well as grow the departments I was steward of,” said one participant, who credited the course with helping them secure a promotion. “It has really changed my professional landscape for the better.”

“By having a new tool [in my repertoire], I was able to solve issues from a different perspective that later during interviews gave me [an] advantage over others, especially when mentioning I learned via MIT xPRO,” shared another.

For some, career advancement included financial rewards. “I was offered an executive position which offered an increase in base salary [of] several thousand dollars,” one participant reported.

Notably, the majority of survey respondents (71%) said they’d reference the course in future job interviews, underscoring its professional relevance.

Seventy-seven percent of survey participants said the System Thinking course has changed how they manage responsibilities, lead projects, and approach their work.

“I have added new tools I use with my team to understand better how to solve systemic problems within my company,” shared one respondent.

“It is just amazing how easy it is for me now to translate the engineering needs to business achievements in the long run thanks to this course,” said another. “I can now show very simply how a process can get super complex without proper oversight.”
